Nowruz, meaning 'New Day’ in farsi/dari, is considered one of the most important days of the calendar for countries including (but not limited to) Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq (Kurdistan), Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Nowruz marks the first day of Spring and renewal of nature. It is a celebration of friendship, new beginnings and togetherness.

For the very first time, every Queenslander can experience the historical traditions and cultural heritage associated with this special occasion that has been celebrated for over 3,000 years.

Take part in a number of workshops and activities in the activity tent; watch dance performances and cheer on vocalists and musicians on stage; try some unique cultural food and drinks; see cultural handicrafts and beautiful art displayed in the exhibition hall; and enjoy celebrating the new year with the diverse community of Australia!
